Month 14
Sorry late again!!! So much to do and so little time!
Things are going great - we are so lucky. Rachel and Simon have settled in so well and we cannot imagine life without them.
The children are a joy and the rewards in all they do and say are amazing but it can be hard work. Going from 0 to 2 children so quickly is frightening but we love it!! In fact I would do it all again (and would like to in the future - don't tell Jeremy!!!) We have got into a really good system now and we can anticipate situations happening before they do. Rachel and Simon have to know what the plans for the day are and if they change then things get a bit muddled.
Rachel is getting on so well at school and her report was brilliant. She has made some lovely friends and has already been to a friends for tea and been to a party.
Simon starts in September and he cannot wait. He already knows the teacher from taking Rachel to school and has had a half day there to meet his new class mates. He loves nursery and the staff there don't want him to leave.
We went away in our caravan the other weekend and had a brilliant time. The children were unsettled for a while which was understandable but they loved the sea and the sand. We go away soon for two weeks to the south coast with our friends Julie and Darren and we are all looking forward to that.
Our garden now resembles a play ground!! Jeremy made a play house on stilts for them and their bikes, scooters, space hoppers etc store nicely underneath. They love playing outside especially on their trampoline and slide.
We are lucky that we have such a close family and some great friends who have all been brilliant. Rachel and Simon get on so well with everyone and most weekends are spent visiting people, or people visiting us with all the children playing together. My Mum and Dad have looked after the children a few times now and they love their new Grand Children.
We have had a couple of review meetings with Chris, Sarah and various people from the Local Authority who placed the children with us. These have gone so well and everyone is so pleased with the progress.
Chris and Sarah also visit separately on regular occasions, sometimes to see us all and sometimes just to see us and see how we are doing. We find these visits enjoyable as we are able to talk about issues and also to ask for help when required.
We met another couple recently that Chris is working with and they go to panel next week. They came for tea the other week and we shared our experiences and we talked about meeting the children, the birth mother and how we coped with the inductions in the Foster Home. Everything seems such a long while ago now and we can't believe that this time last year we hadn't even gone to panel!!
It is the CCS annual picnic on Sunday and we are looking forward to that. It will be nice to catch up with people. Let's hope the sun shines.
Will write again after our holiday.
Clare and Jeremy
