Clare and Jeremy’s adoption diary

Month 5 > Month 6 > Month 7

Month 6

Hello everyone - well it is now September which means our panel date is this month!!! It was our first wedding anniversary yesterday and as Jeremy is taking next week off work, we are celebrating this marvelous occasion by going away to Bournemouth on Sunday night until Tuesday. We are so looking forward to this and hopefully we can chill and be all relaxed for next Wednesday!!!

Since we went to France and enjoyed the camper van holiday so much, we have decided to buy a caravan so have spent a lot of time searching the internet and visiting caravan dealers for one we really like and that would be suitable for two little ones. We found one yesterday which had bunk beds and special bed time lights for the children - how cute is that!!!

On the adoption front, things are still going well. Our referees have all been interviewed and as far as we know they said nice things about us!!

Our Form F has been completed (poor Chris and the lady who typed it up!) Jeremy and I have read it and are so pleased with the content. Chris has made us sound like really nice people - so that should help!

We have read a few more books and watched a couple of videos that the agency has lent us. One was of the panel and what to expect on the day - we are not going to worry about it and try not to be too nervous and just be ourselves.

We saw two gorgeous children in a recent issue of 'Be My Parent'. There are two magazines we subscribe to - this one and another, 'Children Who Wait'. These magazines have pictures and details of lots of children that are waiting to be adopted - it's hard not to say yes to them all!!!

Anyway, the two we saw are just so perfect and are the ideal age too!! I contacted their social worker and she has been in touch with Chris. The social worker wants our Form F as soon as possible and is aware that we do not go to panel until next week but are still very keen on us. Again we are not getting excited but they would look so cute in the bunk beds in our caravan!!!

We had a great day two weeks ago when we visited Debbie and Daniel. Debbie made me feel very welcome and we got on fine - in fact we have swapped email addresses and exchange one now and then. Daniel is great - so polite and friendly. He got utterly spoilt with some new clothes, a printer for his computer and a domino game. We went to Pizza Hut for lunch and all got on so well. We are planning to go and see them both again soon and take Daniel out again for the day and we did ask Debbie if she would like to visit us here.

It is nice for Jeremy to have Debbie as a friend as it makes the situation with Daniel so much easier on everyone. We both left really happy.

The adoption greeting card site is being set up and I have met with the card designer who is working on some different designs for me. They are looking to make different types of cards as well as adoption announcement cards to send to friends and family. Once all the text and designs are approved I will announce the website details.

That's it for now, everyone please keep your fingers crossed for the 14th and will update you next month of how it all went.

Clare and Jeremy
