Claire and Jeremy Update
Hi Everyone
Just to let you know that we have not disappeared!! We have decided, along with the agency that it is best not to write a regular monthly diary now that the children are here, but just to update you when important and significant occasions happen. We didn't want our monthly updates to appear boring and repeat the same thing over and over again.
Rachel and Simon are doing amazingly well. Everyone that has been involved with them since they arrived cannot get over how much they have changed. They have their own little personalities now and that is just great. Before Rachel was always 'Mum' to Simon but now she loves being a girl and doing girly things. She will not leave the house without brushing her hair and applying her perfume (spray!!) and on weekends she has to have her handbag. Jeremy gave her his old mobile phone last week and she just loves that. She has pretend phone calls to people and we love to hear what she is saying!
They can now both write and are learning numbers and words. School is still fantastic and we cannot thank the teachers enough. They were even so kind as to come to our recent review meeting to share their thoughts which was so nice of them.
They have their own friends now and we have constant party invites, friends over for tea and now sleep overs. Our social life has vanished completely unless of course we can take the children with us!
Christmas was just the best ever. We tried to keep things as calm as we could and they took it in their stride so well. They loved decorating the tree and wrapping presents, but especially loved unwrapping their presents on Christmas morning! Rachel was very concerned how Santa would fit down the chimney and we had an hour's debate about this one night. In the end Jeremy announced he would move the fireguard out of the way before they went to bed on Christmas Eve. This worked and all was well. We bought them stockings for their beds and left a carrot, mice pie and drink out for Father Christmas and Rudolph. They did want to leave Weetabix but we told them he would be too rushed to eat that too! Christmas morning arrived (7.45am - how lucky were we!!) and we heard them both shout 'He's been' - it was just so lovely.
They have been to numerous pantos, trips to the theatre and outings including one to the snowdome so we think they will definitely be looking forward to Christmas this year. Rachel has already asked Grandad if he will make her a dolls house!
New Year was lovely too and we had some champagne to celebrate before they went to bed. Simon thought it was lemonade and loved it! What a year 2006 was, our lives have changed so much but so much for the better. We just can't imagine our life without them, we just love them so much.
The plan is for us to go to court early this year so that's an exciting thought. We are just getting some details of Rachel's education sorted and then we will start the process.
Chris has been a star as usual and is always just a phone call/email away. I gave a talk to one of the preparation groups in September and I loved that. It was so nice to be able to share our story to some other people going through the process.
Happy New Year to you all and we will be in touch when we have news regarding the court application.
